Will you stand in solidarity, or will you be a bystander?
Solidarity.
This is a word that has been used many times throughout history as BIPOC communities begin to stand up for ourselves. There is also a history of allyship between communities fighting for social justice. As Canadians struggle through
a Canada Day with stark reminders of the dark history on which our country was built, it is important to understand what side of history you are on.
Will you be an ally and stand in solidarity among the global community, or will you be a bystander?
Remember that allyship does not have to be loud or physical. You can stand in solidarity with your community and others through so many different ways:
Educate yourself, reflect, and share what you have learned in conversation and on social media.
Find a trustworthy organization to support financially.
Donate your time and volunteer within your community.
Stand in Protest. March in protest. Just protest.
