February is not only the month where we celebrate love, but also the month where we are given permission to celebrate being a part of the Black community’s past and its future. Black speakers are more in demand during February. Organizations that ignore diversity throughout the year share quotes from well-known historical figures from the Black community and talk publicly about their diversity initiatives.

We don’t need to ask for permission to celebrate. Trailblazers in our community have fought for recognition and we can both celebrate these wins, but continue to celebrate throughout the year.

As members of the Black community all over the world, our history and the celebration of our diverse cultures is not limited to February. We should never shy away from telling our stories and the stories of the incredible people that have come before us.

The history of the Black community shows strength in the face of adversity. It shows diversity in character and culture, and it shows love, acceptance, and pride. Our history has been written, and it continues to be written with every single achievement and step forward.

We want to challenge you to make a commitment to celebrating being a part of the Black community not just in February, but throughout the year. Learn about the incredible things our community is accomplishing on a daily basis from ground-breaking cancer treatments, teaching financial literacy to a new generation, advocating for equity in healthcare, empowering the next generation of Black women to be whatever they want to be, preserving the history of our people, providing shelter and nourishment, providing safe spaces, and so much more.
