As we commemorate African World Heritage Day (May 5th) and Africa Day (May 25th), we reflect on the continent's remarkable journey of resilience, innovation, and unity. 

Africa continues to rise, driven by the unwavering spirit of its people. The "Africa Rising" narrative is more than a slogan; it's a testament to the continent's dynamic evolution. 

Recent developments from events such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), launched in 2021, aim to significantly boost intra-African trade and economic integration by creating a single market for goods and services.

Technological hubs are emerging across nations, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, social movements through West Africa highlight the continent's commitment to shaping a prosperous future.

To be honest, Africa has always made progress. However, the changes are now more visible and we've written a blog (without diving into political waters) highlighting changes as Africa Is Shifting: From Sankara to Traoré, How People-First Leadership and NGOs Are Reshaping the Continent’s Future.

As we honor Africa's past and present, let's continue to support and amplify the efforts of those driving change at the grassroots level. 

Together, we can build a more equitable and thriving Africa for generations to come.

Global Black Philanthropy Initiative (GBPI)

The question we all need to ask ourselves is if “Black organizations receive as little as 7 cents for every $100 donated to Canada’s big charities”, then what can we do to bridge this gap on a global scale?

Everything we do at SBC is to help elevate the Black community.

In 2023, we dedicated an entire team that worked around the clock to launch the Global Black Philanthropy Initiative (GBPI).

An entire team dedicated to combining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as defined by the United Nations with philanthropy for Black nonprofits around the world. 

Our ongoing efforts have raised $2,370 Canadian dollars to support the nonprofits listed on SBC's Online Directory of vetted organizations.

In May, our focus is raising funds for SDG#6: Clean Water and Sanitation 🚰 and SDG#7: Affordable and Clean Energy.
