Every opportunity we get to connect with a changemaker energizes SBC to amplify our impact.

Whether that changemaker is from a nonprofit organization, for-profit business, or volunteering their precious time.

That same energy led to formulating global initiatives, dedicated to creating a legacy of immense prosperity throughout the Black community.

Each one of our team members are energized in a similar fashion and share the common vision of prosperity and harmony in the Black community.

We work towards sharing that vision, operating under the belief that everyone has an important role to play.

Now, it's time for us to gather and meet each other in-person if possible.

August has always been a special month for us as a Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused (B3) organization.

Throughout Black Philanthropy Month (BPM) and Black Business Month (BBM), we will be immersing the public into unique event experiences.

Unique events working to ensure our leaders in the Black community connect and intertwine the business mindset for profit, sustainability, and effectiveness with a compassionate heart for peace, love, and unity.

The theme for the 3-event series is "SBC Presents: Black Philanthropy In Action."

The Mastermind event on August 14th brings adept changemakers to further help us think like a business.

The Blocko event on August 25th unites families from all walks of life. We all know how nice it is to go a gathering where everyone from all ages can simply have a good time.

The Roundtable event on August 28th helps us to lay down strategies for collaborating with each other as volunteers, business people, and nonprofit leaders.

It's a special time with extraordinary ways to support and have fun.

The Evolution

Since 2018, Support Black Charities (SBC) has grown from a simple online directory into a dynamic force dedicated to empowering Black-led organizations and amplifying their voices.

Our mission is to help Black organizations become sustainable, self-sufficient, and capable of creating generational impact. We support these organizations by strengthening their capacity to drive meaningful change while raising awareness of the vital role of Black philanthropy.

Spotlight on Black Philanthropy Month

As we celebrate Black Philanthropy Month, we want to highlight our Global Black Philanthropy Initiative (GBPI). This initiative was created to address funding disparities for Black organizations by providing a platform that allows supporters to donate to causes related to multiple organizations worldwide. Instead of contributing to a single entity, donors can make an immediate, widespread impact across several Black-led initiatives, amplifying their contribution's effectiveness.

Our vetted directory makes it easy to find and connect with Black organizations doing essential work. But we don't stop there. We continually listen to the Black community’s needs and adapt our services accordingly. Our passionate, action-oriented leadership team is united in its commitment to uplifting the global Black community.

Global Black Philanthropy Initiative (GBPI)

Have you noticed that every year, some organizations succeed during Black Philanthropy Month and throughout the rest of year, while others don't?

One of the fundamental aspects of raising funds is having the network and visibility to raise money.

About a year ago, we decided to close this funding gap and created a new program known as Global Black Philanthropy Initiative, GBPI for short.

GBPI is an online fundraising platform to donate by causes aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The ultimate initiative that allows any supporter to Donate Once and Impact Many.

We launched GBPI with a clear focus for every month and a question we like to ask ourselves is if “Black organizations receive as little as 7 cents for every $100 donated to Canada’s big charities”, then what initiatives can we take bridge this gap all around the world?

Everything we do at SBC is to help elevate the Black community.

Our ongoing efforts have raised $2,370 Canadian dollars to support the nonprofits listed on SBC's Online Directory of vetted organizations since the launch in August 2023.

🌍 Grassroots organization advocating for fair and humane immigration policies while providing migrants and immigrants with humanitarian, legal, and social services, particularly for Black migrants. They work to end racist border policies and the border-to-prison-and-deportation pipeline by having offices at every US/Mexico port of entry and regularly bringing delegations of volunteers to provide humanitarian relief.🕊️💪🏾

Also known as Pamoja, this cooperative is driven by its members with a mission focused on collaboration and group economics. Pamoja tackles key issues like affordable housing, food insecurity, and financial literacy in Black Canadian communities. Through the acquisition of 100 acres of farmland to grow culturally significant foods year-round and advocacy for affordable housing, Pamoja is dedicated to promoting food sovereignty and sustainable community well-being.
