Empowering through culturally and gender-responsive programming and resources, Black Girls Smile was founded in 2012 with a focus on the mental health and well-being of Black women and girls. Since, they have been recognized as one of the leading organizations focusing on Black women and girls’ mental wellness.
Led by an all-Black women team, their programming has supported over 10,000 Black women and girls in the United States. BGS had an exciting year marked by partnerships with JC Penney and the Shawn Mendes Foundation among other things.
In 2023, BGS is
planning to expand their programming to add more resources, workshops, and opportunities. Keep an eye on their social media for announcements about:
- Free virtual events, webinars, and workshops centred on mental wellness available anywhere
- Free in-person activities, workshops, and events for the NYC and Atlanta communities
BGS is currently looking for therapists and facilitators who can join the organization as skilled volunteers.
