Good health and well-being within the Black community

Resources and programs are often lacking within the Black community when it comes to health initiatives. And programs that serve the broader global community are often not geared towards the unique challenges our community faces.

We would like to highlight these organizations that are working within the Black Community to provide services and support in the areas of good health and well-being. If you’re looking for support or you want to connect with an organization doing good within the Black community in these areas, these are great options.

Naza Agape Foundation

Naza Agape Foundation was founded in 2018 with a mission to ensure every child in Nigeria can realize their destiny without limitations. With lack of access to wealth, quality education, opportunities to gain valuable skills to succeed, and even food, Naza Agape Foundation runs ongoing programs to provide resources and opportunities.

They have launched a number of interesting new programs this year such as:

Pad A Girl: They will distribute 2000 sanitary pads to girls in local communities – especially those affected by crisis. They are looking to raise almost $2500 for the campaign this year. Click here If you would like to get involved.
Unesco Youth Mobile Project: Partnered with Unesco, they taught over 500 girls basic mobile application development and digital literacty across three secondary schools in Nigeria. Here is a recap of the project.
Widow Empowerment Project: With generous support from donors, 10 widows were empowered through monetary donations. From entrepreneurship support to school and book payments for their children, find out how the money changed each of their lives.

Naza Agape Foundation truly believes that everyone deserves a better future and they are actively working towards that. They currently need financial donations, books for their book drive, and volunteers.

Celebrating UK Black History Month 2022

The goal of Black History Month is to promote and commemorate Black contributions to British society, as well as to create an awareness of Black history. It is a time to celebrate, reflect on, and appreciate the UK's Black history and culture.

Most celebrations of UK Black history are often based on an American-centric understanding of Black history and identity. The Black experience is not monolithic. So if we are to celebrate UK Black History Month, it's imperative to recognize and celebrate the cultures, accomplishments, and perspectives of Black people living in the UK.

SBC is the only organization dedicated to increasing the visibility of Black-led, Black serving, and Black focus organizations worldwide while working to boost charitable giving within the global Black Community.

Here’s how we are fulfilling our mission:

We are continuously engaging with active and impactful organizations to grow our online directory.
We feature organizations, their programs, their events, or their executive/volunteer teams on Social Media to amplify their mission.
We bring attention to and raise awareness of issues or matters specific to the Black experience.
We look for valuable resources for organizations to share on our website’s Resource page. (Ex: grants, funding, courses, etc.)
We actively promote our vetted directory to attract volunteers and potential donors to find Black organizations to support or engage with.
